Da mihi sis cerevisiam dilutam
Quaff formed as a band in the Suffolk village of Kedington from where they venture out to entertain the world with an eclectic mix of rock and pop covers from the last five decades (centring around the 80's) and the occasional folk number. In particular they are known for their barn dances where their normal set is interspersed with traditional called barn dances. It's a strange mix but it makes for a great night out.
Quaff Are:Marcony (the goth) Upton:Bass, backing vocals & jumping around at the back. ![]() Quaff's bass player Marcony's musical influences are broad but his preferences lie with Goth, Punk & 80's pop. He also has an unfashionable obsession with novelty songs.
Simon Shirm: Guitar & backing vocals. ![]() A founding member of the band. Simon's finger picked style gives him a distinctive in a world of plectrums. If there's a theme to an evening, expect a costume to go with it. He took the hunt for a regular drummer to a new level when he sired one.
Steve Watts: Lead singer & clarinet. ![]() A founding member of the band. Really good lead singers are a lot less common than one may think; Steve Watts is one of those rare beings. Steve also calls barn dances on a regular basis. (What he calls them depends on the evening!)
Susie Bush: Violin, recorder & backing vocals. ![]() A founding member of the band. Every band needs some kind of instrument that can carry a melody when needed. For Quaff that is violin, as provided by Susie who particularly comes in to her own on barn dance numbers, but has carved out a place for the instrument in many of our rock and pop covers.
Hugo (yes he is that young) Shirm: Picture Coming Soon. A regular drummer is a new thing for the band as for a long time we've been hiring in a drummer for gigs, this has changed since the discovery that Simon's son Hugo is a regular drumming prodigy.
